Going to Mexico? Here Are Some Places You Need to Visit

Mexico has a reputation for being dangerous for tourists to visit, but that reputation is quickly changing, and Mexico is becoming one of the world’s premier travel destinations. Its people are beautiful, its culture is warm and welcoming, and its wildlife is unlike any other. Mexico is one of my personal favorite places to visit, particularly Mexico City. Provided that you stick to tourist areas, you should have absolutely no trouble in Mexico, and in fact, it should be one of the best vacations that you have ever had.

In today’s article, we are going to present to you a few places that we think you should visit when you go to Mexico. It’s always good to have an itinerary and list of places to visit when you go anywhere, and that’s exactly what we have prepared for you today.

So, you are going to Mexico? Here are some places that you need to visit.

Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is quickly becoming one of the most visited places in all of Mexico by tourists. It has a very active night scene, cafes, and resorts opening on a regular basis. Playa del Carmen boasts a huge ex-pat community, which has, in a way, changed the local culture and made it very unique. There is no shortage of fun things to do in Playa del Carmen, and we are confident that you will fall in love with it. Playa del Carmen is unlike anywhere else in Mexico.

Tulum

Tulum is another beautiful beachfront Mexican destination. With its long, stretching white-sanded beaches, Tulum is popular among holidaymakers and backpackers. In Tulum, which sits on the Caribbean Sea, you can find beautiful, picturesque ruins. Tulum, however, is probably best known for the scuba diving it offers, which is some of the best in the world. Not only that, but it has water parks for children, a bustling arts scene, and beautiful food. Tulum is a great place to relax, unwind, and really see Mexico for what it is, a warm, friendly, and richly cultured place.

Izamal

Izamal, nicknamed ‘Ciudad Amarilla’ which can be translated to the Yellow City, is best known for the fact that every single building in the city is painted a bright yellow. This city, which is colonial in architecture, is absolutely breathtaking, and well worth a visit. There is really nowhere like Izamal in the entire world – it is amazing. There are also ancient Mayan ruins located in the city’s center, which should appeal to the history buffs among us. This may not be the best destination for children or young adults, but for history-minded and architect enthusiast adults, this is definitely a fantastic place for you to visit.

Mazatlán

Mazatlán boasts incredible historic sites, 20km of sandy beaches, and museums. For a while, the destination fell out of favor with tourists, but it is quickly reclaiming its intrigue and tourists are visiting from all over the world. The city has a thriving art scene, but like Izamal, is best visited and appreciated by adults. There is an abundance of things that you can do with children in the city, but the destination has much more to offer to adults, and thus, you do not want to miss out on even a minute. The galleries, museums, and cultural hubs of Mazatlán are very interesting and require at least a few days to see them all.

Cancun

Now, when we think of Cancun, we often think of drunk American teenagers on Spring Break. Cancun is quickly changing, however, and is becoming a destination not only for Spring Breakers but for families as well. Cancun has an infinite number of activities and things to do, as well as things to see. It is a wonderful tourist destination, unlike anywhere else in Mexico. It has its own unique flavor, one that is sure to leave you gagging for more.

Acapulco

How could we compile a list of the best destinations to visit in Mexico without mentioning Acapulco? It would be a sin! Acapulco was, in the 1950s, the most famous and oft-visited destination in all of Mexico. It was the domain of Hollywood A-listers like Steve McQueen, Elvis Presley, heck, and even John F. Kennedy. Unfortunately, gang violence went out of control and the destination became unsafe for tourists and A-listers to visit. Thankfully, the destination is now safe, and the violence has reduced tremendously. It is worth visiting, if only for the history of who once walked its promenades and beaches.

Mexico is a place you have to see once before you die. Pick any of the destinations mentioned in our list, and you are guaranteed to have a good time. Thanks for visiting us, and have fun traveling!
