Viva Cruises Adds Two New River Ships For 2022

Two new ships will join Viva Cruises in 2022 as part of expansion plans by the river cruise specialist.

Two other vessels will be given a fresh new look and sail exclusively for the German company next year.

The additions will enable the line to run 238 departures across seven ships.

UK agents receive 10% commission per booking with all itineraries now on sale.

The firm’s first new-build ship, Viva One, will sail from Dusseldorf in April 2022, offering itineraries on the Rhine and Moselle rivers. The vessel can carry 176 passengers across 88 cabins and suites.

The vessel will be the first in the fleet to use hybrid technology and sulphur-free GTL (Gas to Liquid) fuel to cut CO2 emissions. A reduced use of plastic on board will see the introduction of more environmentally friendly materials.

Larger Viva Two is due to enter service as the line’s second new-build ship primarily on the Danube from July 2022.

The ship will feature 95 cabins including eight suites with a lounge and restaurant area on two different levels.

Viva Cruises will also be sailing along the Rhine, Danube, Main, Moselle, Seine and Rhone and the Baltic Sea next year.

A range of four-night river cruises from the German cities of Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Koblenz will be expanded due to demand from new to cruise passengers.

Longer itineraries within France will be also available on board two revamped vessels. Viva Voyage will run cruises on the Rhone and also in the Mediterranean in the summer, while Viva Gloria will travel to Le Havre along the Seine.

Viva Tiara will run seven and 16-night itineraries along the Danube while Viva Moments is to sail seven-night itineraries on the Rhine as well as four-night trips focused on wellness and relaxation between January and March 2022. F

Swiss Diamond, with capacity for 123 passengers, will continue running its itineraries along the Baltic coast.

Chief operating officer Andrea Kruse said: “We are very proud to be able to launch our very first two new build ships for the 2022 season.

“We have taken the time to implement our casual lifestyle and all the necessary safety protocols to the vessels to make them just right for our guests.”
