Lonely Planet Ranks Vienna Among The Top 10 Destinations Worldwide

Lonely Planet, one of the world’s largest publishers of independent travel guides, has just placed Vienna among its top 10 destinations for 2015.

In 2015 Vienna will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Ringstrasse boulevard and according to the authors of the 2015 Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel guide, there is no better time than next year to visit the Austrian capital.

Vienna Tourist Board Managing Director Norbert Kettner explained “It’s a major coup to have made the list of the 10 most interesting cities worldwide, alongside destinations such as Washington D.C., Milan, Chennai and Toronto – and a promise to travellers that a trip to Vienna is definitely worthwhile.”

Vienna was singled out by the Lonely Planet for itsunmatched variety – a city where visitors can talk opera over a snack at a sausage stand or completely immerse themselves in culture, whenever they are not treating themselves to the sweet side of life in the capital’s coffeehouses. Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel appeared in October 2014 in the English, German, French, Italian and Russian editions.
