Jim McLean Inducted Into His 6th Golf Hall of Fame

The World Teacher's Golf Hall of Fame has announced Jim McLean, perhaps the most published golf teacher in golf history and world renowned owner of the Jim McLean Collection of Golf Schools, induction into their elite membership. Mr. McLean has published 14 books, created over 20 DVD's and has also been bestowed the honor of five other Hall of Fame inductions. The Eight Step Swing DVD is the all time #1 selling DVD with The Golf Channel. The X Factor, which I first began writing about in 1992, was the first book written exclusively on body movements. Jim's schools are located in the United States, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Spain with the headquarters at the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida.

Very few teachers have taught major champions on both the PGA and LPGA tours but, recently Jim worked years with major champions Cristie Kerr, Alexis Thompson and Keegan Bradley. He was also working full time with Tom Kite in 1992 when Tom won the US Open and in 1993 when Laurie Merten won the Women's US Open.

Jim is notably recognized and highly regarded for his detailed research on the X Factor® and Power Line®. The X-Factor® is known worldwide as the staple of all of golf bio-mechanics and The Eight Step Swing® is the all-time # 1 video on The Golf Channel. He also did a ten part series of 30 minute shows on The Golf Channel detailing the X Factor®. Jim's Eight Step Swing® book was ranked by Sports Illustrated as one of the top golf instruction books of the 20th Century. "Ben Hogan: The Golf Swing" video won six major video awards, the most of any golf DVD ever.

On the playing side, Jim was an All American at the University of Houston playing with a plethora of golf greats including Bill Rogers, John Mahaffey, Bruce Lietzke, Bobby Wadkins, Fuzzy Zoeller, and Tom Jenkins. Those players won on the PGA tour, and also won all of the four majors. Jim began racking up self-achievements very early on and is one of the few people to qualify for the US Junior, the US Amateur, the US Open and the US Senior Open as well as being a contestant in the Masters where he made the cut. Jim has won the Northwest Open and the Pacific Coast Amateur, plus three Pacific NW Amateurs. Jim qualified for the National Club Pro Championship ten times and has won more than 50 Junior and Amateur Titles He was also named 1st alternate to the US Amateur World Cup Team.

Jim has mentored eight junior golfers including Eric Compton, John Curran, Cristie Kerr, James Vargas, Alexis Thompson and Liz Janagelo that have reached the #1 junior ranking in the US. There are also nine Jim McLean Instructors who have worked under the Jim McLean System ranked in the Top 100 Instructors. There are 37 Jim McLean Golf School instructors ranked Best in State by Golf Digest. Jim has taught many top tour professionals including Tom Kite, Hal Sutton, Webb Simpson, Brad Faxon, Bernard Langer, Liselotte Neumann, Lenny Mattiace, Dana Quigley and many others.

His professional achievements include: National PGA Teaching Committee, National PGA Education Committee, National PGA Awards Committee PGA Master Professional (1990), and Teacher of the Year in both the Metropolitan and South Florida PGA sections. Jim is an Instruction Editor for Golf Digest (since 1997) and was instruction Editor and Advisor for The Golf Channel from it's inception in 1995 - 2005. He was the Co-Chairman of the PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit held in San Francisco. He has led over 30 national teaching and playing workshops for the PGA of America and has been the featured speaker at six National PGA Teaching Summits and three European teaching and coaching summits. Jim has delivered instruction workshops on his unique ideas of Safety Zones® and teaching players from "beginners to top tier tour winners" in New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and Japan.
