Another Addition For Rolls-Royce

Another Addition For Rolls-Royce

By Arali McGrath

Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) will soon account for about two-thirds of the vehicles being sold around the world. Recognising and acting on this fact, the speculation has been confirmed with Rolls-Royce announcing that they are to develop an all-new “high-bodied motor car” that would be able to “cross any terrain.” Translated simply – an SUV is to be expected from the luxury car giant in the not too distant future.

The announcement came in a formal letter titled, “An open letter from the Chairman and Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Motorcars on the subject of a new Rolls-Royce,” signed by company Chairman Peter Schwarzenbauer and Chief Executive Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes. The letter calls this a “seminal moment in Rolls-Royce’s 111-year journey” and makes every effort to avoid referring to the car as an SUV

The driving force behind the car has been customer demand, along with a thirst to innovate, Rolls claims. Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO of Rolls-Royce explained that despite the obvious demand for an SUV he is cautious about harming a brand he has worked hard to make so strong. With Rolls-Royce’s recent success branching out while maintaining the company’s traditions of luxury and refinement, there’s no reason the new Rolls-Royce high-bodied car shouldn’t live up to its expectations.

This announcement now leaves Ferrari as the only major luxury carmaker without an SUV… Watch this space.
